        Customs Procedures Passengers entering and departing Thailand via an international airport shall be aware of Customs laws and regulations. Documents for inspection by Customs Passport VAT Refund Application for Tourist form (P.P10) purchased goods for VAT refunds. Jewelry, gold ornaments, watches, glasses, or pen, must be valued at least 10,000 Baht. After the Customs clearance procedures at the airport, tourists are required to carry the items to be once more inspected by the Revenue officers before receiving the VAT refunds. Export and import of personal belongings Passengers wishing to bring personal belongings on their trips, for example, watches, necklaces, rings, video cameras, cameras, radios, laptops, etc., with the intention to bring them back into the country, are exempted from tariffs under the condition that they present such items along with their boarding passes, passports and air tickets to the Customs officers at the Departure Customs office. Export of Buddha images outside the country Antiques or artifacts, whether or not they have been registered, are prohibited to be exported or dispatched from Thailand, unless there is a permit from the Fine Arts Department’s director general according to the criteria, procedures and conditions specified in the ministerial regulations no. 5 in B.E. 2539 (1996). In case the antiques or artifacts permitted to be exported or dispatched from Thailand are religious Buddha images or icons, the person who receives the permit must clarify the purpose of the export of such antiques or artifacts. Only Buddha and religious images which are intact and are for the purpose of worships, researches, or exhibitions are permitted to be exported or dispatched from Thailand. Export or dispatch of parts of such items is not allowed. Purchases from Duty Free shops Purchases of goods from Duty Free shops located in the city must be brought outside Thailand only. If such items are brought back into Thailand, passengers will be required to pay related duties or taxes at the red channel.  

  Measures for Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (LAGs) LAGs is a procedure for screening passengers and airline staff traveling in every flight from Chiang Rai Airport, including airport staff and personnel who are authorized to pass the restricted areas behind the security checkpoint in Chiang Rai airport. This measure does not applied to liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) or other materials and substances similar to medicines and milk or infant nutrition. Medicines, milk and infant nutrition in appropriate quantity are permitted to be taken on board. Procedures LAGs in Carry-on Baggage 1.1 LAGs must be contained in a proper container in amount not exceeding 100 ml. (Containers over 100 ml. are not permitted to be taken on board, despite the fact that LAGs do not exceed 100 ml.) 1.2 LAGs containers according to 2.1.1 must be placed together in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag and the overall capacity must not exceed 1,000 ml. Procedures at Security Checkpoint Before Going Through Security Checkpoint After check-in and passport control, passengers must go through security screening procedures to ensure their safety before boarding the airplane. In the first step, passengers must prepare their boarding pass for inspection by the officers. At Security Checkpoint 2.1 When passenger enter the x-ray lane, there are trays provided for containing bags/belongings. Passengers are required to place all their belongings on a tray. Should passengers have a laptop, jacket, zip-lock plastic bag containing LAGs, they must separate those items from other belongings and place them on a tray. Passengers are required to place their valuable belongings in their bags and close them before placing it on a tray for x-ray screening. 2.2 Passengers may be asked to remove their belt and shoes in order to put them through the x-ray machine. 2.3 Passengers place their trays through the x-ray machine. 2.4 Passengers walk through the metal detector under the supervision of officers. Should any passengers be unable to walk through the metal detector due to specific reasons such as people wearing pacemaker and pregnant women, they must inform the officers in order to go to the special channel and be checked by hand. 2.5 Passengers who walk through the metal detector may pick up their belongings which passed through the x-ray machine, provided that there was no alarm. 2.6 Passengers who walk through the metal detector and ring the alarm are required to walk back and check for any metal objects that may be left with them. If there are metal objects, they must place them on a provided tray and walk through the metal detector for a second time. 2.7 In case passengers walk through the metal detector for a second time and ring the alarm, officers will invite them to be checked again to find out the reason why the metal detector rings. 2.8 During the body screening process, it is mandatory that passengers follow the guidance of the officers. 2.9 After the body screening process, passengers may be asked to open their personal belongings. Please follow the guidance of officers. 2.10 Should passengers be found to have prohibited items in their bags/belongings, they are required to follow the guidance of officers and abide by the safety measures of the airport. 2.11 Should passengers feel discomfort with the body and baggage screening process in public areas, the airport has an individual screening room. Please inform the officers that you wish to be screened privately. After Security Screening Please check all your personal belongings before leaving the security checkpoint. Should Passengers Refuse Passenger Security Screening, whether bags/belongings screening or body screening, or refuse to follow the security measures, the airport reserves the right not to allow them to proceed through the security checkpoint. Since the 1st of June 2007, the Department of Civil Aviation has promulgated the measures on taking any liquids, aerosols, gels, or other materials or substances with similar characteristics to be taken on board by passengers of all nationalities. Carry-on belongings that are liquids such as drinks, canned food, chocolate, mouth wash, shaving cream, hair spray, perfumes, colognes, cream, balm, nail polisher, candles, cosmetics products (such as lip gloss, mascara, foundation, etc…) or any other liquid items may be taken on board provided that the size of container does not exceed 100 ml.   Departing Passengers All departing passengers must be checked for any prohibited items before departure from Chiang Rai Airport. Money and Currency Exchange : The ‘Baht’ is the currency used in Thailand. 1 Baht is 100 Satang.         Customs Procedures Passengers entering and departing Thailand via an international airport shall be aware of Customs laws and regulations. The Customs Department provides Customs services to passengers who enter and depart Thailand from Hat Yai International Airport, which consist of Customs services for arriving passengers and those for departing passengers as follows: Customs procedures for arriving passengers The Customs Department offers Customs services to passengers travelling through Thailand based on international standards and facilitation of service principles of the World Customs Organization. Export and import of personal belongings Passengers wishing to bring personal belongings on their trips, for example, watches, necklaces, rings, video cameras, cameras, radios, laptops, etc., with the intention to bring them back into the country, are exempted from tariffs under the condition that they present such items along with their boarding passes, passports and air tickets to the Customs officers at the Departure Customs office. The Customs officers will keep the record and give a copy of the record to passengers in order to present it to the Customs officers at the Red Channel upon their return to Thailand. The conditions are as follows: The items have already been used and can be counted / in a reasonable value There are serial numbers which can be easily identified If passengers have items which are not personal belongings but which have the characteristics of commercial goods such as orchids or other belongings, please contact the Customs officers in advance for recommendations on Customs clearance procedures before departure. Export of Buddha images outside the country Antiques or artifacts, whether or not they have been registered, are prohibited to be exported or dispatched from Thailand, unless there is a permit from the Fine Arts Department’s director general according to the criteria, procedures and conditions specified in the ministerial regulations no. 5 in B.E. 2539 (1996). In case the antiques or artifacts permitted to be exported or dispatched from Thailand are religious Buddha images or icons, the person who receives the permit must clarify the purpose of the export of such antiques or artifacts. Only Buddha and religious images which are intact and are for the purpose of worships, researches, or exhibitions are permitted to be exported or dispatched from Thailand. Export or dispatch of parts of such items is not allowed. Purchases from Duty Free shops Purchases of goods from Duty Free shops located in the city must be brought outside Thailand only. If such items are brought back into Thailand, passengers will be required to pay related duties or taxes at the red channel.

  Measures for Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (LAGs) LAGs is a procedure for screening passengers and airline staff traveling in every flight from Hat Yai airport, including airport staff and personnel who are authorized to pass the restricted areas behind the security checkpoint in Hat Yai airport. This measure does not applied to liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) or other materials and substances similar to medicines and milk or infant nutrition. Medicines, milk and infant nutrition in appropriate quantity are permitted to be taken on board. Procedures LAGs in Carry-on Baggage 1.1 LAGs must be contained in a proper container in amount not exceeding 100 ml. (Containers over 100 ml. are not permitted to be taken on board, despite the fact that LAGs do not exceed 100 ml.) 1.2 LAGs containers according to 2.1.1 must be placed together in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag and the overall capacity must not exceed 1,000 ml. (or equivalent in other measurement units). Only sealed containers are permitted to be taken on board and each passenger is permitted to take one plastic bag on board. 1.3 For security screening, passengers are required to separate the plastic bag stated in 2.1.2 from other personal belongings, including jackets and computer devices, and let the officer check it at the security checkpoint. Duty Free LAGs 2.1 Departing passengers, transit passengers or transfer passengers who have LAGs purchased from duty free shops at the airport or on the airplane are permitted to take the duty free LAGs on board provided that the bags are sealed and are not tampered with, torn or opened after purchase. 2.2 Evidence that the duty free LAGs are purchased on the traveling date must be inside the bag. The specified items must correspond with LAGs contained in the bag.   Measures for Security Screening before Boarding Passenger and their personal belongings must be screened in order to search for any weapon, dangerous object or prohibited item that passengers may bring with them on board. These measures aim to prevent weapons or other dangerous objects which may be used for any illegal intervention from being taken on board, whether they are carried without permission, hidden or brought with by any methods. This is to provide safety and security for aviation affairs in compliance with the standard of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and other related laws.   Preparations for Security Screening before Boarding Before check-in at the ticket counter passengers must prepare the following in order to pass the security checkpoint : Any liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) or other materials or substances with similar characteristics that exceed 100 ml. must be kept in the checked baggage for check-in as they are not permitted to be taken on board. LAGs that can be taken on board with the carry-on baggage must be contained in a container not exceeding 100 ml. and placed in a transparent zip-lock plastic bag of 20x20 cm. (plastic bags are provided at the service counters in front of the check-in counters). Only one plastic bag is permitted to be taken on board per passenger and the overall capacity of liquids must not exceed 1 liter. The bag must be separated from other personal belongings for x-ray screening. All sharp objects must be kept in the checked baggage as they are not permitted to be taken on board. Passengers who possess weapons or bullets must inform the airline staff at the check-in counter in order to check the documents and separate the bullets at the designated area. Passengers are not permitted to take any dangerous substance or object or/and animal which may be harmful to the aircraft and other passengers on board, either in the checked or carry-on baggage. Procedures at Security Checkpoint Before Going Through Security Checkpoint After check-in and passport control, passengers must go through security screening procedures to ensure their safety before boarding the airplane. In the first step, passengers must prepare their boarding pass for inspection by the officers. At Security Checkpoint 2.1 When passenger enter the x-ray lane, there are trays provided for containing bags/belongings. Passengers are required to place all their belongings on a tray. Should passengers have a laptop, jacket, zip-lock plastic bag containing LAGs, they must separate those items from other belongings and place them on a tray. Passengers are required to place their valuable belongings in their bags and close them before placing it on a tray for x-ray screening. 2.2 Passengers may be asked to remove their belt and shoes in order to put them through the x-ray machine. 2.3 Passengers place their trays through the x-ray machine. 2.4 Passengers walk through the metal detector under the supervision of officers. Should any passengers be unable to walk through the metal detector due to specific reasons such as people wearing pacemaker and pregnant women, they must inform the officers in order to go to the special channel and be checked by hand. 2.5 Passengers who walk through the metal detector may pick up their belongings which passed through the x-ray machine, provided that there was no alarm. 2.6 Passengers who walk through the metal detector and ring the alarm are required to walk back and check for any metal objects that may be left with them. If there are metal objects, they must place them on a provided tray and walk through the metal detector for a second time. 2.7 In case passengers walk through the metal detector for a second time and ring the alarm, officers will invite them to be checked again to find out the reason why the metal detector rings. 2.8 During the body screening process, it is mandatory that passengers follow the guidance of the officers. 2.9 After the body screening process, passengers may be asked to open their personal belongings. Please follow the guidance of officers. 2.10 Should passengers be found to have prohibited items in their bags/belongings, they are required to follow the guidance of officers and abide by the safety measures of the airport. 2.11 Should passengers feel discomfort with the body and baggage screening process in public areas, the airport has an individual screening room. Please inform the officers that you wish to be screened privately. After Security Screening Please check all your personal belongings before leaving the security checkpoint. Should Passengers Refuse Passenger Security Screening, whether bags/belongings screening or body screening, or refuse to follow the security measures, the airport reserves the right not to allow them to proceed through the security checkpoint. Since the 1st of June 2007, the Department of Civil Aviation has promulgated the measures on taking any liquids, aerosols, gels, or other materials or substances with similar characteristics to be taken on board by passengers of all nationalities. Carry-on belongings that are liquids such as drinks, canned food, chocolate, mouth wash, shaving cream, hair spray, perfumes, colognes, cream, balm, nail polisher, candles, cosmetics products (such as lip gloss, mascara, foundation, etc…) or any other liquid items may be taken on board provided that the size of container does not exceed 100 ml. (100 CC). All liquids must be contained in a re-sealable transparent plastic bag (zip-lock) not larger than 20x20 cm. The overall capacity of the plastic bag must not exceed 1 liter. Each passenger is permitted to take 1 plastic bag on board.   Departing Passengers All departing passengers must be checked for any prohibited items before departure from Hat Yai Airport. Money and Currency Exchange : The ‘Baht’ is the currency used in Thailand. 1 Baht is 100 Satang. The banknotes consist of 1,000 Baht (brown), 500 Baht (purple), 100 Baht (red), 50 Baht (blue), 20 Baht (green) and 10 Baht (brown). The coins consist of 25 Satang, 50 Satang, 1 Baht, 2 Baht, 5 Baht and 10 Baht.   Money and traveler’s cheques can be exchanged at hotels, shops, banks, department stores and currency exchange counters in Suvarnabhumi Airport. The best place to exchange a traveler’s cheque is at a bank (passport has to be presented). / Passengers are allowed to bring any other foreign currencies in and out of Thailand; however, the amount must not exceed the amount stated by the Customs Department upon arrival. / Passengers leaving Thailand are allowed to take Thai currency not exceeding 50,000 Baht out of the country. Prohibited Items : The Thai Government determines prohibited items which are not considered illegal to be imported to or exported out of Thailand, such as drugs; counterfeit coins or banknotes; pornographic books, pictures or items. When found, the prohibited items will be confiscated and should passengers be found guilty, they will be fined and prosecuted.         Arriving Passengers (Hat Yai Airport) All arriving passengers are required to complete the Passenger Arrival Document no. 6 issued by the Immigration Bureau for contacting passengers during their stay in Thailand.         Customs Procedures Passengers entering and departing Thailand via an international airport shall be aware of Customs laws and regulations. The Customs Department provides Customs services to passengers who enter and depart Thailand from Chiang Mai International Airport, which consist of Customs services for arriving passengers and those for departing passengers as follows: Customs procedures for arriving passengers The Customs Department offers Customs services to passengers travelling through Thailand based on international standards and facilitation of service principles of the World Customs Organization. The Customs has implemented a two channel system which is Nothing to Declare Channel or Green Channel for passengers who do not have dutiable goods or prohibited/controlled items and Goods to Declare Channel or Red Channel for passengers who carry dutiable goods, prohibited/controlled items or those uncertain whether their belongings are dutiable or prohibited items. Exemptions of Customs duties for passengers’ belongings Personal effects must be in an appropriate amount for personal use with the total aggregate value not exceeding 20,000 Baht (not prohibited/controlled items or supplies) Items for personal or professional use which are bought from Duty Free shops at an airport with the total amount of taxes not exceeding 20,000 Baht Household effects which are brought into the country by a traveler due to residential movement from another country must be purchased from Duty Free shops at an airport and the total amount of taxes must not exceed 50,000 Baht No more than 200 cigarettes or tobacco not exceeding 250 grams, or the total weight of both types not exceeding 250 grams. If the amount exceeds the allowance, please contact the Customs officers at the Red Channel No more than 1 liter of wine or spirits Exemptions of Customs duties for passengers’ belongings Dutiable items are items brought into the country which exceed the amount for personal use and/or exceed the total amount of 20,000 Baht, items used for commercial or trading purposes or have trademarks In case the total aggregate value of a passenger’s belonging exceeds 80,000 Baht, the passenger is required to declare such item to the Customs officers by submitting a passenger declaration form for Customs formalities Prohibited items are items which are not allowed to be imported into or exported from the country namely drugs, pornographic materials or obscene literature, pirated goods, counterfeit banknotes or coins, or protected wild animals. Those in violation of the laws related to drugs such as having and holding, holding for use, or being a producer, seller, or transporter are subject to death penalty Controlled items are some items which are controlled by laws for importing into or exporting from the country. To import or export restricted/controlled items requires a permit with written authorization from the stated government agency in order to pass Customs formalities. For example, * Buddha images, artifacts, antiques by the Fine Arts Department * Firearms, ammunition, explosives by the Department of Provincial Administration, Ministry of Interior * Plants and other parts of plants by the Department of Agriculture * Live animals and animal remains by the Department of Livestock Development or the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation * Food and drugs by the Food and Drugs Administration * Vehicle parts by the Ministry of Industry * Cigarette, tobacco, and alcohol by the Excise Department * Radio communication devices and telecommunication equipments by the Office of Specific Business Licenses, Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission Punishments for those who avoid the declaration of prohibited/controlled items Prosecution, and/or confiscation if the Customs officers discover any dutiable goods Prosecution, and/or confiscation of the prohibited/controlled items which do not have a proper documentation with written authorization Most severe penalty : a fine amounting to 4 times the value of the goods plus duties and taxes and/or imprisonment for not more than 10 years, or both. Currency declaration upon arrival There is no limit on the amount of Thai currency which can be brought into Thailand. Foreign currencies, in banknotes or coins, with the total aggregate value exceeding USD 20,000 must be declared to the Customs officers at the Customs checkpoint. Failure to declare or incorrect declaration may result in criminal offense. Customs Bond Passengers with dutiable or controlled items which are not intended for use in Thailand must deposit them at the Customs Bond facility at the Airport Customs offices in which you arrive with the deposit duration of no more than 2 months. At the time of obtaining the bond, passengers are required to present the airline ticket to the third country and pay the related fees on the day of departure. Passengers can reclaim the items by informing the airline staff upon check-in. With the exception for neighboring countries i.e. Thailand and Vietnam, the amount of Thai Baht allowed to be brought outside the country must not exceed 500,000 Baht. Remarks: According to the Customs declaration no. 116/2013 effective on 14 November 2013, there has been a change regarding the amount of Thai currency being brought outside the country. That is, Thai currency, in banknotes or coins, with the total aggregate value of more than 450,000 Baht but not exceeding 2,000,000 Baht brought outside countries bordering Thailand, Vietnam and China (only Yunnan District) must be declared to the Customs officers at the Customs checkpoint. The currencies must be listed according to the form specified by the Customs Department. Foreign currencies, in banknotes or coins, with the total aggregate value exceeding USD 20,000 or equivalent must be declared to the Customs officers at the Customs checkpoint. Verification of goods for VAT Refund for Tourist Customs officers at the Departure verify the goods requested for VAT refunds for passengers departing the country at the checkpoint located in the international departure hall before passengers proceed to airline check-in counters. Documents for inspection by Customs Passport VAT Refund Application for Tourist form (P.P10) purchased goods for VAT refunds. Jewelry, gold ornaments, watches, glasses, or pen, must be valued at least 10,000 Baht. After the Customs clearance procedures at the airport, tourists are required to carry the items to be once more inspected by the Revenue officers before receiving the VAT refunds. Visitors entitled to a VAT refund must satisfy the following criteria: You are a non-Thai resident and not staying in Thailand up to 180 days in a current tax year; You are not a pilot or a cabin crew of any airline departing Thailand on duty; You leave Thailand via an international airport. Export and import of personal belongings Passengers wishing to bring personal belongings on their trips, for example, watches, necklaces, rings, video cameras, cameras, radios, laptops, etc., with the intention to bring them back into the country, are exempted from tariffs under the condition that they present such items along with their boarding passes, passports and air tickets to the Customs officers at the Departure Customs office. The Customs officers will keep the record and give a copy of the record to passengers in order to present it to the Customs officers at the Red Channel upon their return to Thailand. The conditions are as follows: The items have already been used and can be counted / in a reasonable value There are serial numbers which can be easily identified If passengers have items which are not personal belongings but which have the characteristics of commercial goods such as orchids or other belongings, please contact the Customs officers in advance for recommendations on Customs clearance procedures before departure. Export of Buddha images outside the country Antiques or artifacts, whether or not they have been registered, are prohibited to be exported or dispatched from Thailand, unless there is a permit from the Fine Arts Department’s director general according to the criteria, procedures and conditions specified in the ministerial regulations no. 5 in B.E. 2539 (1996). In case the antiques or artifacts permitted to be exported or dispatched from Thailand are religious Buddha images or icons, the person who receives the permit must clarify the purpose of the export of such antiques or artifacts. Only Buddha and religious images which are intact and are for the purpose of worships, researches, or exhibitions are permitted to be exported or dispatched from Thailand. Export or dispatch of parts of such items is not allowed. Purchases from Duty Free shops Purchases of goods from Duty Free shops located in the city must be brought outside Thailand only. If such items are brought back into Thailand, passengers will be required to pay related duties or taxes at the red channel.

  Departing Passengers All departing passengers must be checked for any prohibited items before departure. Money and Currency Exchange : The ‘Baht’ is the currency used in Thailand. 1 Baht is 100 Satang. The banknotes consist of 1,000 Baht (brown), 500 Baht (purple), 100 Baht (red), 50 Baht (blue), 20 Baht (green) and 10 Baht (brown). The coins consist of 25 Satang, 50 Satang, 1 Baht, 2 Baht, 5 Baht and 10 Baht.   Money and traveler’s cheques can be exchanged at hotels, shops, banks, department stores and currency exchange counters. The best place to exchange a traveler’s cheque is at a bank (passport has to be presented). / Passengers are allowed to bring any other foreign currencies in and out of Thailand; however, the amount must not exceed the amount stated by the Customs Department upon arrival. / Passengers leaving Thailand are allowed to take Thai currency not exceeding 50,000 Baht out of the country. Prohibited Items : The Thai Government determines prohibited items which are not considered illegal to be imported to or exported out of Thailand, such as drugs; counterfeit coins or banknotes; pornographic books, pictures or items. When found, the prohibited items will be confiscated and should passengers be found guilty, they will be fined and prosecuted.
