Measures for Liquids, Aerosols and Gels (LAGs)

LAGs is a procedure for screening passengers and airline staff traveling in every flight from every airport under AOT, including airport staff and personnel who are authorized to pass the restricted areas behind the security checkpoint in every AOT airport. This measure does not applied to liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) or other materials and substances similar to medicines and milk or infant nutrition. Medicines, milk and infant nutrition in appropriate quantity are permitted to be taken on board.

1. LAGs in Carry-on Baggage
   1.1 LAGs must be contained in a proper container in amount not exceeding 100 ml. (Containers over 100 ml. are not permitted to be taken on board, despite the fact that LAGs do not exceed 100 ml.)
   1.2 LAGs containers according to 2.1.1 must be placed together in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag and the overall capacity must not exceed 1,000 ml. (or equivalent in other measurement units). Only sealed containers are permitted to be taken on board and each passenger is permitted to take one plastic bag on board.
   1.3 For security screening, passengers are required to separate the plastic bag stated in 2.1.2 from other personal belongings, including jackets and computer devices, and let the officer check it at the security checkpoint.
2. Duty Free LAGs
   2.1 Departing passengers, transit passengers or transfer passengers who have LAGs purchased from duty free shops at the airport or on the airplane are permitted to take the duty free LAGs on board provided that the bags are sealed and are not tampered with, torn or opened after purchase.
   2.2 Evidence that the duty free LAGs are purchased on the traveling date must be inside the bag. The specified items must correspond with LAGs contained in the bag.

 

Measures for Security Screening before Boarding

Passenger and their personal belongings must be screened in order to search for any weapon, dangerous object or prohibited item that passengers may bring with them on board. These measures aim to prevent weapons or other dangerous objects which may be used for any illegal intervention from being taken on board, whether they are carried without permission, hidden or brought with by any methods. This is to provide safety and security for aviation affairs in compliance with the standard of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and other related laws.

 

Preparations for Security Screening before Boarding Before check-in at the ticket counter

passengers must prepare the following in order to pass the security checkpoint :

1. Any liquids, aerosols and gels (LAGs) or other materials or substances with similar characteristics that exceed 100 ml. must be kept in the checked baggage for check-in as they are not permitted to be taken on board.
2. LAGs that can be taken on board with the carry-on baggage must be contained in a container not exceeding 100 ml. and placed in a transparent zip-lock plastic bag of 20x20 cm. (plastic bags are provided at the service counters in front of the check-in counters). Only one plastic bag is permitted to be taken on board per passenger and the overall capacity of liquids must not exceed 1 liter. The bag must be separated from other personal belongings for x-ray screening.
3. All sharp objects must be kept in the checked baggage as they are not permitted to be taken on board.
4. Passengers who possess weapons or bullets must inform the airline staff at the check-in counter in order to check the documents and separate the bullets at the designated area.
5. Passengers are not permitted to take any dangerous substance or object or/and animal which may be harmful to the aircraft and other passengers on board, either in the checked or carry-on baggage.

Procedures at Security Checkpoint

1. Before Going Through Security Checkpoint
   After check-in and passport control, passengers must go through security screening procedures to ensure their safety before boarding the airplane. In the first step, passengers must prepare their boarding pass for inspection by the officers.
2. At Security Checkpoint
   2.1 When passenger enter the x-ray lane, there are trays provided for containing bags/belongings. Passengers are required to place all their belongings on a tray. Should passengers have a laptop, jacket, zip-lock plastic bag containing LAGs, they must separate those items from other belongings and place them on a tray. Passengers are required to place their valuable belongings in their bags and close them before placing it on a tray for x-ray screening.
   2.2 Passengers may be asked to remove their belt and shoes in order to put them through the x-ray machine.
   2.3 Passengers place their trays through the x-ray machine.
   2.4 Passengers walk through the metal detector under the supervision of officers. Should any passengers be unable to walk through the metal detector due to specific reasons such as people wearing pacemaker and pregnant women, they must inform the officers in order to go to the special channel and be checked by hand.
   2.5 Passengers who walk through the metal detector may pick up their belongings which passed through the x-ray machine, provided that there was no alarm.
   2.6 Passengers who walk through the metal detector and ring the alarm are required to walk back and check for any metal objects that may be left with them. If there are metal objects, they must place them on a provided tray and walk through the metal detector for a second time.
   2.7 In case passengers walk through the metal detector for a second time and ring the alarm, officers will invite them to be checked again to find out the reason why the metal detector rings.
   2.8 During the body screening process, it is mandatory that passengers follow the guidance of the officers.
   2.9 After the body screening process, passengers may be asked to open their personal belongings. Please follow the guidance of officers.
   2.10 Should passengers be found to have prohibited items in their bags/belongings, they are required to follow the guidance of officers and abide by the safety measures of the airport.
   2.11 Should passengers feel discomfort with the body and baggage screening process in public areas, the airport has an individual screening room. Please inform the officers that you wish to be screened privately.
3. After Security Screening
   Please check all your personal belongings before leaving the security checkpoint.
4. Should Passengers Refuse Passenger Security Screening,
   whether bags/belongings screening or body screening, or refuse to follow the security measures, the airport reserves the right not to allow them to proceed through the security checkpoint.

Since the 1st of June 2007, the Department of Civil Aviation has promulgated the measures on taking any liquids, aerosols, gels, or other materials or substances with similar characteristics to be taken on board by passengers of all nationalities. Carry-on belongings that are liquids such as drinks, canned food, chocolate, mouth wash, shaving cream, hair spray, perfumes, colognes, cream, balm, nail polisher, candles, cosmetics products (such as lip gloss, mascara, foundation, etc…) or any other liquid items may be taken on board provided that the size of container does not exceed 100 ml. (100 CC). All liquids must be contained in a re-sealable transparent plastic bag (zip-lock) not larger than 20x20 cm. The overall capacity of the plastic bag must not exceed 1 liter. Each passenger is permitted to take 1 plastic bag on board.
